In the heart of Liberia, the God Empowering Orphanage Home stands as a beacon of hope and resilience for some 48 children who have lost their families and homes. This sanctuary not only offers shelter, love, and education but also strives to provide the basic necessities of life to these orphans. However, the orphanage faces a critical challenge: access to clean and safe drinking water. To address this urgent need, we are launching a fundraiser to install a hand pump that will ensure a reliable supply of fresh water for the children and staff of the God Empowering Orphanage Home.  Currently, they are drinking from stream and open well.

The Importance of Clean Water

Access to clean water is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of healthy living. For the children at the God Empowering Orphanage Home, safe drinking water is essential for their overall well-being and development. Currently, the orphanage relies on stream and open well and unreliable water sources, which pose significant health risks.

Health Benefits: Clean water is crucial for maintaining good health. It helps prevent waterborne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and typhoid, which are prevalent in areas with poor sanitation. By providing a reliable source of clean water, we can significantly reduce the incidence of these illnesses, ensuring that the children remain healthy and can focus on their education and personal growth.

Time and Resource Efficiency: Access to a nearby handpump will save the children and staff countless hours spent fetching water from distant sources. This time can be better spent on educational activities, skill development, and recreation, contributing to a more enriching and nurturing environment at the orphanage.

The Handpump Installation Project

The fundraiser aims to raise sufficient funds to install a high-quality hand pump that will provide a sustainable and long-lasting solution to the orphanage’s water needs. The project will be implemented in several phases to ensure transparency, efficiency, and successful completion.

Phase 1: Fundraising – Our goal is to raise $2,300 to cover the costs of the hand pump, installation, and maintenance. We will engage friends and people of goodwill through various fundraising activities, including social media campaigns, charity events, and direct donations. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in the lives of the children at the orphanage.

Phase 2: Procurement and Installation – Once the funds are secured, we will work with reputable suppliers and contractors to procure and install the hand pump. The installation process will involve thorough site assessment, drilling, and construction of the pump, ensuring it meets all safety and quality standards.

Phase 3: Training and Maintenance – To ensure the longevity and optimal functioning of the hand pump, we will provide training to the orphanage staff and children on proper usage and basic maintenance. Additionally, we will establish a maintenance fund to cover any future repairs or replacements, ensuring the sustainability of the water supply.
